Kaiser Permanente Audiologist, Full Time - Olympia in Olympia, Washington
Job Summary:
Provide evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, education and appropriate referral to patients and their families, related to hearing and balance disorders. Provide care within Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington's integrated Care Delivery model with feedback to families, physicians, and other team members regarding diagnosis, treatment, and progress.
Essential Responsibilities:
Five years of age geriatric population: Provide comprehensive hearing diagnostic evaluation, including pure tone air/bone thresholds, speech reception threshold, word recognition, middle ear analysis (tympanometry, volume, acoustic reflexes), with site of lesion determination. Interpret results. Assess patient lifestyle. Counsel patient regarding evaluation results, including recommended follow-up and treatment plan, determine appropriate medical referral as needed. Complete required visit documentation, reporting, billing, and service capture
Rehabilitation: Counsel patient on hearing loss, hearing aids, and listening strategies, selection of appropriate assistive listening and amplification devices, and realistic expectations. Custom fit and program hearing aids, troubleshoot hearing aid problems, provide in office hearing aid maintenance and repair, perform electroacoustic analysis and Rear Ear measurement to ensure patient benefit. Provide counseling to patient and family related to tinnitus, hearing conservation, and communication strategies. Demonstrate understanding of physiologic and psychological effects of hearing loss on populations of all ages. complete required visit documentation, reporting, billing, and service capture.
Under 5 Yrs of Age: Comprehensive Pediatric hearing evaluation, including Visual Reinforcement and Play audiometry, Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE), tympanometry, Acoustic Reflexes, Auditory Brainstem Evoked Response with site of lesion determination, newborn hearing screening. Interpret results. Counsel parents regarding evaluation results, including recommended follow-up and treatment plan; determine appropriate medical referral as needed. Complete required visit documentation, reporting, billing, and service capture.
Advanced Audiologic Evaluation: Evoked Potential testing to determine vestibular and audiologic site of lesion, including Electrocochleography (ECOG), Visually Evoked Myogenic Potential (VEMP), Videonystagmography (VNG), Neurologic and threshold Auditory Brainstem Evoked Response (ABR). Interpret results. Counsel parents regarding evaluation results, including recommended follow-up and treatment plan; determine appropriate medical referral as needed. Complete required visit documentation, reporting, billing, and service capture.
Collaborate with other KFHPW provider staff to ensure best practices and positive care outcomes. Collaborate with Physical Therapy regarding vestibular disorders; collaborate with Oncology regarding Otototoxic monitoring. Cooperate and communicate effectively with team members to accomplish the workload. Provide in-service for provider staff and patient education for group visits and seminars as requested. Meet CME and other mandatory training requirements. Participate in departmental training as scheduled. Identify own learning needs and participate in continuing education programs to meet those needs.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience (concurrent with Doctorate training).
Education
- Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.).
License, Certification, Registration
- Audiologist License (Washington) required at hire
Additional Requirements:
Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, co-workers and other health care professionals.
Knowledge of clinical competency in auditory and vestibular diagnostic and rehabilitation audiology including amplification devices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Four (4) years of experience in diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology.
Expert level competence in required areas with specialty skills that may include advanced vestibular evaluation, Bone Anchored Hearing Aids, Cochlear Implants, and tinntitus treatment.
