Kaiser Permanente Counsel I, Medical Malpractice Claims in Pasadena, California

Job Summary:

Provides legal service to one or more assigned departments or units of the organization. Provides factual information, counsel and guidance on legal questions or matters. Researches legal principles and precedents, consults with outside counsel, drafts and executes legal documents, gathers relevant case related information using multiple sources and methods.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assists and supports more senior level attorneys on providing legal advice and case recommendations. Under the supervision of more senior attorneys, may provide legal advice to one or more assigned departments or units of the organization.

  • Undertakes research and reviews standard documents and contracts; prepare and drafts legal memoranda and documents.

  • Provides research, factual information, counsel and guidance on basic to moderately complex legal questions or issues.

    Basic Qualifications:

    Experience

  • Minimum six (6) months related experience.

    Education

  • Bachelors degree required.

  • JD required.

    License, Certification, Registration

  • State Bar License (California)

    Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to learn the practical aspects of applied law and functions of the business.

  • Ability to provide counsel to management regarding legal questions and issues within specialty area.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong service orientation.

  • Maintains current knowledge of specialty area

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years directly related experience.
